Tue Oct 10 00:00:00 CDT 2017

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee, supported by Newman’s Own Foundation, is making a final push to encourage Minnesota kids and families to enter the Super Snack Challenge! Minnesota children ages 8-14, with the help of their parent or guardian, can submit their favorite healthy game day recipe at mnsuperbowl.com/SuperSnack.

Fifty-two (52) winners will be invited to attend the Super Kids Tailgate Party that will take place during the 10-day Super Bowl festival and where ten “All-Pro Chefs” who submitted recipes will be honored. The winning healthy game day recipe will be chosen at the event and its creator will be named the Super Snack Challenge MVP. He or she will receive $25,000 to donate to the charity of his orher choice! The deadline to enter has been extended to October 23, 2017 to provide more time for kids to submit their recipes.

“Hosting the Super Bowl is an opportunity for all Minnesotans to share in the excitement and create a lasting legacy of lifelong healthy eating habits,” said Dana Nelson, Vice President of Legacy and Community Partnerships for the MNSBHC Legacy Fund. “We hope kids across Minnesota will have some fun and send us creative recipes that they will enjoy on game day!”

“The Super Snack Challenge offers a creative approach to engaging children and their families in healthier eating routines,” said Bob Forrester, President and CEO of Newman’s Own Foundation. “This program is a great fit with our commitment to improve the well-being of children and families, and we are proud to support the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee Legacy Fund in this important initiative. We’ve enjoyed many good philanthropic relationships in Minnesota, and the Super Snack Challenge is a great addition to these relationships.”

This initiative is part of the MNSBHC Legacy Fund’s effort to leave a lasting legacy of improved health and wellness for Minnesota children. The challenge also provides another opportunity for Minnesotans across the state to get involved and celebrate our opportunity to host the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program is made possible each year by a $1 million contribution courtesy of the NFL Foundation and is complemented by the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee.

Entry for the Super Snack Challenge is easy! Children age 8-14 can prepare a healthy snack using some of their favorite healthy ingredients. Their parents or guardians can submit the recipe ingredients and instructions online at mnsuperbowl.com/SuperSnack. Recipes will be graded on nutrition, ease-to-make, creativity, and taste.

Full entry rules are available at mnsuperbowl.com/SuperSnack.
